2020 Ford F-150 Raptor Reviewed by Confirmed European and Universal Appeal
Like most other Europeans would if they also took the 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor for a ride, AutoTopNL’s Max wants the roads in his native Netherlands to be wider so he can have the truck as daily driver.
But even with these drawbacks, our European reviewer still appreciates the experience. Of course, compared to an American, you can factor in the novelty aspect – a Ford F-150 isn’t something you see, let alone drive there every day – but that alone can’t. not explain too much Max’s excitement.
Part of that has to do with the Raptor’s exterior design, which has to be said still pretty cool despite the new generation already out. This particular truck also features a few modifications, with the AWE exhaust and the 50 caliber radio antenna being by far the coolest. Still, the LED lights on the bumper (and more importantly the toggle switches that activate them) arrive within a second.
Speaking of exhaust, he manages to give the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 a very unique sound. It has a cool note, no doubt about it, and it even releases occasional bangs and chuckles, but for the most part it makes the truck sound like a race car. This makes the whole driving experience seem a bit disjointed. Sometimes it feels like the video footage and the soundtrack don’t go together.
Another feature outside of the engine that receives special mention from Max is the Raptor’s 10-speed automatic transmission. He says he is impressed with the way he responds to orders, saying he is handling “better than expected”. We suppose you can blame European prejudices towards American vehicles for this remark, but given his general enthusiasm for the truck, it’s easily forgiven.
