Group 1 achieves exceptional profits despite the hard knocks of the automotive industry
Auto sales halted as the COVID-19 pandemic spread, but executives at Group 1 Automotive used it as an opportunity to dismantle the business and rebuild it from the bones.
Productivity and profits increased as a result, said Earl J. Hesterberg, chief executive of the Houston-based company. He said employee productivity increased 30 percent last year.
