WEATLAND, MO. (April 26, 2022) – The Hermitage Lumber Late Model Division will be in the spotlight on Saturday as the first of 11 programs in the Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series takes place on the track at Lucas Oil Speedway.
The spring opening of the weekly championship series presented by Ozarks Fox will see the latest models race 25 laps in their feature film for $1,000 to be won, courtesy of Hickamo Country Store.
The latest models will be the Cedar Creek Beef Jerky USRA Modifieds, Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods, and O’Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars.
This week will also mark the start of a new Kids Power Wheel initiative involving 3-9 year olds during intermission. Children will run straight to the front during intermission, navigating a course marked out by orange cones.
“Involving children is something we strive for,” said Lucas Oil Speedway general manager Danny Lorton. “I think it’s another way to spark their interest in the sport and give them a bit more fun and a taste of being involved in the sport in a safe way.”
Youngsters can get into their own battery-powered Power Wheel cars by signing up at the Frogs Jr. Fan Club at the south end of Midway before the races. More Kids Power Wheel parties are scheduled for May 21, June 18, July 30 and August 27. Points will be tallied and a mini season champion will be crowned with all four regular classes in the weekly race series on August 27.
One Kids Power Wheel class will be the 6-12 volt cars and another will be for the 24-36 volt class. No modifications to improve power or speed will be allowed.
“We want to keep it fun and safe for kids. It’s free for them to race, all they need are their own cars and entry tickets,” Lorton said.
This is also the third year of the Frogs Jr Fan Club Pit Tour. Prior to each track racing program this season, flag bearer Mike Striegel will lead a pit tour on a large golf cart for youngsters aged 5-12, with youngsters signing up for a drawing each week to be part of the tour.
Kids can sign up at the Frogs Jr Fan Club at the south end of Midway before 5 p.m. for the chance to take part in the Pit Tour.
Gates and Piit stands open at 4pm, with fast laps at 6:30am and races at 7:05am.
