Parkopedia launches a multi-domain payment platform | Automotive Industry News
Parkopedia has launched a new multi-domain payment platform allowing drivers to pay for parking, recharging electric vehicles, refueling and tolls.
According to the platform, the solution solves the task of automakers of bringing together a large number of suppliers and payment providers into one integrated payment platform with single sign-on capability for drivers.
The platform is being rolled out in 2021 and announcements from automakers and partners will follow shortly and will be accessible through vehicle infotainment systems in combination with the website and mobile apps.
Parkopedia first launched on-board payments in 2014 with the parking payment platform delivered in partnership with Volvo.
Now, Parkopedia aims to simplify the way drivers make payments for their larger vehicle-based purchases, by consolidating multiple global merchants into one account. Car payments for vehicle services can mean having to deal with hundreds of traders.
Parkopedia’s new platform brings these merchants together and eliminates existing barriers to entry, such as the need to swipe a card to unlock a charging station, or pay for fuel, providing a connected service to drivers and simplifying management for car manufacturers.
“We are already the market leader in in-car parking payments, so expanding into other key areas of the integrated payments market just makes sense for our customers,” said Hans Puvogel, COO of Parkopedia.
“Our single sign-on solution will dramatically reduce both the complexities and associated costs for OEMs in this area. We already have the confidence of some of the world’s largest automakers with our existing parking products, so we are confident that they too will welcome this announcement. . “
For his part, Parkopedia founder and CEO Eugene Tsyrklevich added: “This past year has proven that the future is with digital payments and the integration of so many vehicle-centric payments under one roof with our new payment platform is the next logical step for us and the industry.
“The way drivers pay is changing and we’re seeing growth in electric vehicle sales and charging, as well as contactless refueling and new smart city toll payments. The platform was created to simplify and automate this complex area for businesses and consumers. . “
