BROCKVILLE, Ont. – Chris Raabe earned his second win of the season in DIRTcar 358 action at Brockville Ontario Speedway.
Joe Banks paced the field at the start of the 30-lap event ahead of Kalen Draper and Madison Mulder. Lee Ladouceur quickly moved forward and closed in on Banks to take the lead. Approaching Turn 3, Banks lost control of his car after a light touch from Ladouceur caused him to skid.
On the restart, Ladouceur took the lead and was flying around the top side. Meanwhile, Chris Raabe was on the move taking second place from Chris Herbison on lap 15.
Ladouceur continued his run around the outside lane, but Raabe managed to close the gap as the front two pulled away from the field.
On Lap 28, Raabe made the winning move into Turn 2, taking the lead on the inside lane. From there, Chris Raabe made it easy by taking the second win of the season. Ladouceur held onto 2nd place while Quebec invader Steve Bernier came from behind to finish third.
Domonick Merkley had struggled since entering the DIRTcar Sportsman division, but on this night he would pick up the win to claim his first career victory in the division.
Ryan Poole was the dominant force in the 1000 Islands RV Crate Sprint car feature.
The Novice Sportsman 12-lap final saw a thrilling end between father and son Sandy and Gavin MacFarlane. On the final lap, Sandy equalized Gavin, but that night the kid got there first, as Gavin MacFarlane picked up his second win of the season.
The Supernant Truck Shop Mini Stock division saw Hayden Brown lead the way to victory.
The vintage 20-lap feature took a few restarts to get going, but once the laps clicked, it was former DIRTcar 358 Modfied driver and DIRTcar Sportsman Jason Riddell who took the win.
