Scisco takes third modified win of the season from Wall Stadium

WALL TOWNSHIP — Jackson’s Kyle Scisco avoided a crash early in the race, took the lead on lap nine and powered on to win the 40-lap modified stock car race at Wall Stadium Speedway on July 30 . It was the third win of the 2022 season for the “Scisco Kid”.
The event started on a tough note when Brick Township’s Eddie McCarthy and Jackson’s Steven Reed got tangled in turns three and four and slammed the guardrail.
Both competitors were able to limp their race cars to the pit area before tempers flared between the two race teams. When the dust settled, both cars were listed as disqualified in the official count, according to a press release.
Once back in action, Howell’s Eric Lane was the test leader as Scisco quickly moved into second place. Scisco was then able to drive the outside lane to take the lead as Farmingdale’s Tommy Martino Jr. dove inside the lane for second.
Martino chased Scisco until halfway through the race when a mechanical failure slowed his effort and prompted the final warning of the race.
At the checkered flag, it was Scisco, Blake Barney of Jackson, Joey Merlino of Pine Hill, Tyler Truex of Egg Harbor Township and Andrew Krause of Holmdel in the top five.
“I have to thank this team every week for giving me a great car,” Scisco said. “When we unloaded, the car was not very good. But (car owner) Steve Ferarra kept working until we had a great car. He never gives up.
Howell’s Kevin Davison raced to victory in the 50 lap extra distance feature for Sportsman cars, beating the competition from start to finish.
Truex was consistently overshadowed by Davison before finishing second, while Point Pleasant’s Michael Carr, Jackson’s Jarret DiGiantomasso and Neptune City’s Bryan O’Shea rounded out the top five.
Burlington’s Alonzo Morales and Wall Township’s Sean Vuksanic won two 25-lap races for the Fast 4 division.
Vuksanic, Ryan Maher of Neptune City, Nicole Razzano of Cookstown and Mike Lavery of Orangeburg, NY, rounded out the top five in race one.
Neptune’s Lavery, Morales, Maher and Ryan Bilello finished in the top five in race two.
Glen Gardner’s Tanner Jones took the lead near the halfway mark and raced to victory in the 20-lap finale for the Legend Cars.
Brian Gardella of Brick Township, Peter Bruno of Little Silver, Quinn Trimmer of Waldwick and Cody Critelli of Howell finished second through fifth.
Brianna Page of Brick Township became a first winner in the 25-lap event for the touring TQ Midgets.
The motor racing action will continue on August 6 with the modified cars going head-to-head in three 20-lap main events. The Sportsman, Factory Stocks and Legend Cars are also on the schedule with qualifying at 5 p.m. and main events at 7 p.m.
