The 20 Year Old Porsche 911 Turbo S is a $ 480,000 Collector’s Item You Can’t Get in America
It may have escaped common knowledge, but Porsche aficionados in China only officially started enjoying the German premium sports car brand exactly two decades ago. Now, the opportunity for a real auto show is presented to Porsche, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary in mainland China with some exciting new features.
The first is the new 911 Turbo S 20 Years Porsche China Edition, a model that clearly targets local collectors with an MSRP of at least RMB 3,114,500. At the current exchange rate, that’s almost $ 480,000, which is more than the US price of $ 207,000 for the 911 Turbo S.
It is not necessary to do the math any further, however, as this one clearly does not come to America. Instead, it’s offered Chinese customers with five bespoke exterior paint jobs: Gulf Orange, Oslo Blue, Ruby Star, Mint Green, and Viola Purple Metallic. There are also some Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur keys specifically applied to observe »a design concept inspired by Porsche’s observation of social values in China – specifically combining heritage and innovation. ”
“Twenty years is an important step, but it is not the finish line. Together with our partners and customers, we can work to cultivate the next generation of sports car enthusiasts and create an even greater fusion over the next 20 years and beyond.Commented Jens Puttfarcken, President and CEO of Porsche China.
As for the 718 Spyder, this version makes its debut in China because Porsche decided to bring this specific type of body back to the market. This time around, no specific modifications were made to make it more anniversary-worthy, but the price is also a bit more tame, at least in Porsche terms. After all, Chinese fans can have the 718 Spyder for “just” 738,000 RMB, or around $ 114,000.
