The 2021 Toyota Supra bi-turbo is a real muscle car
THROUGH H. BUTTERFLY
A compact bright yellow 2021 Toyota GR Supra was delivered this week and I enjoyed the test drive. It is a 382 horsepower sports car with a twin cylinder / turbo inline six engine.
Rear-wheel drive with a versatile eight-speed transmission, the car can hit 60 miles per hour in 3.7 seconds, 100 in 9.5. It compares to the Chevy Corvette, Porsche and BMW models in terms of price and performance.
Final assembly takes place in Graz, Austria, at an automotive plant that also assembles the BMW Z4. Japanese engineers and their racing team brought the Supra back with great care, design research and engineering. The test vehicle featured the larger engine, but the Supra can come with a four-cylinder powertrain with slightly lower performance but higher fuel economy. The test car delivered an overall average of 27.5 mpg during the week.
“Nitro-Yellow” is one of the six color choices and I would choose to buy a different color. The price for such a spectacular sports car starts in the mid-range of $ 40,500, and the premium 3.0 test model had all the special features with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $ 57,185. The new 2022 models are now hitting the market with likely price changes.
The car has a plush, luxury cabin with tight-fitting leather seats and a low roofline. JBL 12-speaker audio system offers clear XM performance and easy dial station selections.
Supra rides on 19-inch 10-spoke forged aluminum wheels with Michelin Pilot super sport tires. Heavy-duty Brembo piston braking systems are in place up front and rear, with red calipers. This car will start quickly and stop quickly.
Rear trunk space is tight with slender storage space behind the two front seats. The trunk opens and closes manually with a cabin release button.
The Supra is equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense program which includes numerous safety features such as pre-collision and pedestrian warnings.
One of the features is the lane departure warning that pushes back if the car crosses a freeway lane markings.
Driving a car that can increase speed in seconds, windshield speed limit warnings are appreciated.
Overall, once adjusted for the low chassis ride of all high-driving SUVs, the car starts to look very impressive, especially on the E-470 highways. The turbo engine and the eight-speed transmission work perfectly with no turbo lag and very rapid acceleration. The car shifts gears electronically with little shifting at the wheel. The Supra has a sport mode selection that gives even more acceleration, not that it is really necessary.
Particularly liked, the car purrs like a normal car, it is quiet, has perfect suspension and steering, but when the accelerator pedal is pressed and the turbos get to work, it can hang your head in the car seat. plush headrest and tuned exhaust system sounds off.
With just a slight pressure on the accelerator pedal, the car can fly over the speed limits very easily. It gives the driver a certain sense of satisfaction knowing that the speed of the jaguar is concealed by the touch of a toe.
If you want a stylish, high-performance sports car at a moderate price, this GT Supra 3.0 could be your ticket to thrilling driving.
