This is the first Tata Safari in India to feature a 360 degree camera
Tata launched Safari to the market earlier this year. It is currently Tata’s flagship SUV and competes with cars like the recently launched MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar and Mahindra XUV700. The 7-seater SUV comes with several features, but the 360-degree camera is not one of them. People have already started looking for aftermarket options to make their Safari much more premium than it already is. Here we have a video in which a 2021 Tata Safari gets a 360 degree camera installed.
The video was uploaded by CAR SONICS CAR ACCESSORIES HYDERABAD to their YouTube channel. They have modified several cars and SUVs in the past and this is probably the first Tata Safari in India to install a 360 degree camera there. What makes this even more special is that the functionality has been integrated into the touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Safari.
Normally in this type of modification we have seen that normally the original touschscreen infotainment system is replaced by a spare unit to accommodate such functionality. Here in this case they have modified the existing system to include this new functionality. Tata Safari only displays the feed from the rear view camera. The quality of the camera is not the best.
The camera has been replaced with high-resolution units that display a stream in 4K. The video shows the clarity of the camera before and after the installation of the system. After the system is installed, the camera displays a bird’s eye view and displays the feed from all cameras. The cameras installed on the exterior mirror also act as blind spot monitors whenever the turn signals are engaged.
The system also records images from the four cameras and stores them only in the company’s integrated system. This can be consulted by the driver or the occupants if necessary. The video also mentions that this change was made to the existing system without cutting any wires, which means the warranty is also unaffected. They mention that such 360-degree camera systems are available for many other SUVs and cars, and interested buyers will need to contact the seller in advance, as these items are only made to order.
Tata Safari comes with a decent amount of features such as panoramic sunroof, cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM, leather-wrapped steering and seats, power driver seats, captain’s seat for the rear passenger (optional), automatic air conditioning, etc. Tata recently launched Safari Gold Edition in shades of White Gold and Black Gold. It offers features such as an integrated air purifier, ventilated seats for first and second row passengers, gold accents on the exterior and interior, a wireless phone charger, Apple CarPlay and Android. Wireless auto, etc.
The XT and XZ versions of Safari have also been updated. The XT and XTA versions now offer Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a wireless air purifier. The XZ and XZA versions now come with a wireless phone charger as well as an Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a wireless air purifier. These two versions continue to offer all of the other features that come with Safari.
