Tim Sears Jr. uses Late Race Pass to return to Brewerton Speedway Modified Victory Lane – Oswego County Today
BREWERTON, NY — Fans at Brewerton Speedway were treated to some great side-by-side racing, a first career win, and pinch-point races at the end of the night on Friday night.
35 Lap Tracey Road Equipment’s DIRTcar Big Block Modified feature resulted in a late-race charge by Tim Sears Jr. who started thirteenth in the starting field of twenty-eight cars. Sears would take the lead with the game-winning pass on lap 31, passing Tom Sears Jr. for his third win of the season.
The other winners of the Ontario Auto night were Ryan Dolbear (DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman). Matt Kitts (AmeriCU Credit Union Mod Lites) Chris Bonoffski (Mirabito Four Cylinders) Jack Miller (Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour).
Jeff Taylor would enjoy a leading starting spot in the modified 35-lap feature, immediately taking a half lead on lap five as Zach Payne, Tom Sears Jr., Nick Krause and Adam Roberts chased Taylor into the lead. -five.
On lap ten, Taylor opened up just over a second as he put the cars behind by a lap. Sears, Payne, Chad Phelps who started ninth and Jimmy Phelps eleventh, made the top five.
Sears managed to knock Taylor down, then took the lead on lap fourteen using the lower groove of the fast lane.

The first yellow of the race came on lap twenty-fifth and would set up heavy hitters Tom Sears, Chad Phelps, Tim Sears, Jimmy Phelps and Larry Wight who started fourteenth in a 10-lap battle until the ‘arrival.

Buckey Hayes was leading the first three laps of the 25-lap sports event when yellow slowed the pace. Ryan Dolbear took advantage of yellow as he would take the lead on the restart.
Dolbear would immediately open a half lead on lap ten as Brandon Carvey, Stephen Marshall, Rich Townsend and Zach Sobotka raced in the top five.
A caution on lap thirteen erased Dolbear’s two-second lead, putting top runners Carvey, Marshall, Townsend and Alan Fink right with Dolbear for the ladies shootout.
With ten laps to go, Dolbear and Carvery were in a two-car fight for the lead, with Fink a few cars back waiting for any mistakes from the front two.
Late yellows that slowed the pace didn’t faze Ryan Dolbear as he nailed every restart and fended off challenges from Brandon Carvey for his second win of the season on the speedway. Alan Fink, Zach Sobotka and Stephen Marshall finished third through fifth.
Joel Moller led the first five laps of the 20-lap Mod Lite feature when Tom Mackey took the lead on top of the fast lane.
A caution on lap nine would erase Mackey’s two-second lead. When the race returned to green, Clayton Brewer took the lead on lap 12 and looked to put some distance between himself and the rest of the field.
Matt Kitts used the top of the speedway to roll up Brewer and would take the lead with five laps to go. Once ahead, Kitts would not be denied as he won his first career Mod Lite feature on the speedway. Clayton Brewer, Joe Garafolo, Tom Mackey and Brad Harris rounded out the top five.
The characteristic 15-turn four-cylinder was a battle royale right down to the ladies. On the final lap, coming out of turn four, Dakota Bechler and Chris Bonoffski leaned heavily on each other coming into the ladies, with Bonoffski winning by inches at the finish. Nate Powers, Damien Bechler and Ray Bechler finished third through fifth.
The Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour ran a 20-lap feature. Jack Miller of Appalachia, NY, who had never seen the speedway until Friday night was the class of the pack, going to victory lane. Joe August Jr., John West, Matt Barbour and George Valenti complete the top five.
There will be no racing at Brewerton Speedway this Friday July 15th due to the big Renegade Monster Truck Tour at Fulton Speedway on Friday and Saturday July 15th and 16th. Tickets are available on the Fulton Speedway website.
